LeadChange Developments

Miriam Norityi Zwane (Organisation Founder), an 89 year old social activist for the elderly and a senior citizen, through volunteering efforts is running a non-profit organization called Dobsonville Home Care for the Aged that is looking into advocating on behalf of the elderly, and daily needs of senior citizens of Soweto. The organisation is based at Dorothy Nyembe Park – well known as NEAC Park in Dobsonville, Soweto.

This is where a number of more than one hundred and fifty elders are fed on a daily basis. The organisation also helps in the solving of family disputes, advocating against evictions and the abuse of the elderly. There are other activities such as Physical Training, Knitting and sowing that form part of relief and distressing the elderly from the social challenges and stresses at the disposal of their personal lives as individuals and household heads.

Ms Zwane approached LeadChange Developments seeking assistance in any way possible and as LeadChange primary objectives is the alleviation of poverty through the provision of skills, LCD decided to complement Dobsonville Home Care for the Aged’s vision by providing equipment that will address their administrative challenges. Fundraising is the organisations backbone and to succeed, an organisation requires an efficient and reliable system for record keeping, compiling reports and real-time communication to mention a few. LCD donated a brand new computer with all accessories and printer. Aware that ICT literacy levels are low LCD also offered to empower one of Dobsonvilles Home Care for the Aged’s employees with Microsoft Office skills free of charge.
